Today I found some cheap towel racks for under a buck a piece. They are made of Obeche, quite a nice wood, looking similar to pine but turning a lot better, allowing greater details, more like a hardwood.
This dollhouse miniature cake platter is just a test piece for this wood. And I'm very happy with it, as you can see it turns beautifully and can get very thin without chipping.
The color will be well suited for kitchen accessories or it can be combined with some contrasting woods in more complex pieces.

On this channel I plan to post videos of the usual things I make around my very VERY small shop.
Some will be miniatures in dollhouse 1" scale, some will be homemade tools, some will be toys for my daughter and some will be home improvements I make around my family home.

Wow. Very nice work. Just found your channel. I just started on woodturning and also aim to make 1” scale miniature items. Can’t wait to see more of your miniature work. Thanks for the video.

Is that a sharpened screwdriver?
Vor 3 yearsRainbows871
+The Small Workshop Well its a more constructive use than they tend to get in prisons. Wouldn't want to try it on anything but those super mini proxon lathes though.
Vor 3 yearsThe Small Workshop
Yes! At the moment it was the only miniature tool I had. I've bought some specialized tools since then, but the screwdriver is still my favorite.
