If ford could put another 6 or even 7 speed manual trans in their trucks, they would get more buyers. I just bought a 1999 f250 super duty with the 7.3L powerstroke with a 6 speed manual. And i love it. The truck was only $7k used with a couple of things to fix.

yea! 4 led headlights on low beam to blind me. my complaint is a 12 pin trailer connector? 7 pin, lights, brakes, fine, but if you need a camera to back up your trailer, you need to get out of your truck and stay home. most likely you would be towing a larger trailer 40ish foot where a camera might be useful, however a 40 foot trailer and the tow vehicle would put your total length around 60 foot or more. i cant think of many places where you would back in something that long, mostly 100ft drive through spots for something like that (KOA's) , so useless camera wiring. not a selling point for me unless you do alot of backing up to docks?? i dont know. TPMS wiring MIGHT be useful. i have towed my trailer 9 years now and never had one flat, low tire or blowout, luck or just maintaining my trailer and checking it before each trip??

Vor 8 Tage

Look how terrible the ride geometry is. A dully with an light-weight aluminum trailer sagging the rear bumper because of weak spring loading rates. WHY in the world wont Ford fix the squat mechanics of their trucks? This is due to them lowering the rear 1.5 inches and the front a disproportionate 0.5 inches to adjust entry and ride height on F250s. Poor move in my opinion. I own a 2019 F350 and I still prefer the loading balance of my RAM 2500. When loaded the vehicle rides on a level deck plane, everything handles and looks better.

the only thing this has over the OLD GM 6.0 l96 is the variable oil pump and displacement. The new GM 6.6 work engine has all that plus direct injection. The new ford 7.3 is the same tech as the old gm 6.0 but without any guaranteed reliability.

So many people say “Too bad it’s not a diesel.” I own a 7.3 diesel and a 6.8l V10. The only difference (in nearly stock form) is the cost of fuel for the diesel and the increased oil change cost. For the V10 the performance in high altitude isn’t on par with the 7.3 due to forced induction. If I could push 3-5 psi the V10 and a gear vendor splitter for the 4r100 the V10 would be my choice.....a gear vendor on both trucks makes for a better towing vehicle but for the diesel makes it nearly perfect. I have owned Cummins 24v w/ 6 speed manual, Powerstroke 7.3 with 4r100, 6.7 auto, V10, and my work truck is a Chevy 6.0 gas. I put many miles towing and in elevation. None of these vehicles get more than 17 MPG on their best day and there are good and bad to them all. I will say that in my 15 year career I drove Fords for 13 and Chevy for the last 2 and the Ford truck is built to last getting beat on daily, loaded down to max GVW @ nearly 10,000 lbs. for a SRW. Going off-road daily and not pussy footing around. The Chevy just falls apart when it comes to work, it rides great but a waste when it comes to real world work. Great pavement princess as they say. The Dodge with a Cummins and Manual transmission, well the drivetrain is among the best, everything around it falls short unfortunately. When it comes down to it I’m not a fanboy of any brand, I want my money spent on a vehicle that does what I need it to do and I don’t want to buy a new truck every 3 years because they fall apart.

At last Ford woke up, I was always criticizing why they had left aside the development of the push rods engines that had always gone well, such as the Windsor, Clevelad, FE, etc. They have to learn from Chevy, they always kept their line of small block and big block engines, evolving to the wonderful LS and the great Big Block Chevy 572. I was a big fan of Ford until the push rod engines (the best and most reliable) ... That's why I passed now to Chevy and just because they kept the push-rod engines ... In Ford do not take good decisions, they do not know how to organize, they jump very fast from one technology to another, they spent millions in developing those V8 engines OHC And DOHC .... And what have they achieved? that have an engine clutter in their production chain, with so many different and incompatible engines, which disappoints the main objective of Ford that are their customers (that's why I move to Chevy) ... V8 from DOHC and now again V8 OHV Can you imagine the headache with regard to spare parts and accessories? Come? That is why Chevy will be number one in engines, since you will always get parts and accessories for a V8 chevy, any boy who wants to prepare a hot rod, will use a Chevy engine ... cheaper and easier to build than a Ford. On the other hand I love that Ford is again thinking correctly, but maybe it's already late. Back to the glory moments of the Big Block like the Boss 429, FE 429 SCJ, or the small block Boss 351, Cleveland 351, Windsor 351-302 ... it will be almost impossible. Learn something from Ford, "make the good, always better ..." (Chevy small block, now chevy LS, Chrysler Hemi, now Chrysler Hemi updated, Ford ??? killed the push rod engines, not there is tradition and it is a shame because Henry Ford was a man of traditions). Harley Davidson continues making his wonderful V-TWIN for more than 110 years, and you know what? It's from push rods !!! Do you remember how Ford beat the Ferraris in the 60s? then placing a big block in a GT40 !!! push rod versus DOHC ... But I'm not going to extend more. Congratulations for your new (which really is an evolution of an old idea) engine. We'll see how long it lasts.

When I bought a new 2017 F350 with standard, non LED headlights, I was very disappointed with the headlight's ability to project light either in lo-beam or hi-beam. They are VASTLY inferior to the standard, non LED lighting found on a 2016 Chevy. They are dimmer, in part because they diffuse the light too much rather than project any semblance of a focused beam. REALLY ANNOYING to buy a new truck well into the 21st century and find a basic feature like lighting has taken a leap backwards.

I get a kick out of Ford going to pushrods on the 7.3. Maybe it's a fuel economy benefit. I was excited about GM's new 6.6 V8 gasser, but Ford has outdone them. Now Chrysler needs to respond. V10 Hemi, anyone? Diesels have become too expensive, and the required emissions controls hurt fuel economy, not to mention that diesel fuel is more expensive than gasoline in most places. This all adds up to the diesel option never paying for itself in fuel savings. Gas power can make a lot of sense for most customers.

Sure hope Ford did a better job of engineering on the 7.3 as opposed to something like the V10's when they first came out or the 6.0 Diesel when it first came out. I would have never thought, that in the 2000's somebody like Ford would've put out poorly engineered stuff, but there you have it.
